13 Weeks To Go...

So here I am, 27 weeks and 2 days into this pregnancy. It's hard to believe that I'm over halfway there with only 13 weeks to go before our lives change forever and our precious little girl enters the world.

It's a GIRL!!

This past Friday we had our first ultrasound and it's official, we're having a baby girl. Let me just say that in that moment everything seemed to stand still and all else in our lives became so insignificant as we gazed at the beautiful girl on the monitor in shear awe and amazement. Up until now it's all seemed very surreal to me but this was definitely the icing on the cake.

In case you're wondering we're keeping the name under wraps until she decides it's time to make her grand entrance into the world. As of right now, my due date is June 10th but my doctor is saying it could be as early as May 31st. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I will be posting a few ultrasound pictures later this week.

Happy Holidays!

I realize it's been almost 2 months since I last posted but there's definitely good reason for that. It's called, pregnancy! Unfortunately, I had morning sickness pretty bad my first trimester and sitting at the computer more then necessary was the last thing I wanted to do. Fingers crossed the worst of it is behind me and I can enjoy the remaining 5 1/2 months.

Michael, I, and the little one want to wish all of our family and friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The last days of summer

This past Labor Day weekend, we decided to brave the traffic and make a trip down to Myrtle Beach, taking full advantage of the last few days of summer. It was definitely worth it! Somehow we managed to convince our friends, Jim and Christy, to join in the adventure of experiencing warm weather, beautiful beaches, golf, and of course my road trip beverage stop of choice, Starbucks.

When all was said and done, I think it's safe to say that none of us were ready to return home. Life seems so relaxed in the South, which is definitely a welcome change from constantly being immersed in city life. Instead of honking cars, crowded roads, metro stops, and tourist filled malls we were welcomed by Palmettos, warm sand, the gentle sound of ocean waves, and occasionally, a cool breeze. I don't want to believe that summer has come and gone but the truth of the matter is, it has.

An Afternoon of Commissioning

What a joy it was to be a part of our dear friends' Commissioning Ceremony while in Colorado this past month. Rick has been attending Denver Theological Seminary for the past year pursuing his dream to become a Chaplin in the U.S. Navy. Family and friends, from far and near, gathered to wish him the very best while words of encouragement were softly spoken accompanied by prayers that God would continue to guide his way.

All we have to say is, way to go Shaffer!
